BOOTLEG LOVE
Zu Beginn erst einmal eine Definition des Begriffs Bootleg:
Als Bootleg wird im Bereich des Medienrechts eine Tonaufnahme oder ein Film bezeichnet, deren Vertrieb vom Rechtsinhaber nicht autorisiert wurde.
Für das Motiv habe ich den Begriff „Bootleg“ als ein Adjektiv für etwas Unlizenziertes oder Vorgetäuschtes interpretiert.
Es soll für alle gefakten und primitiven Dopaminausschüttung stehen. Darunter fallen für mich mitunter Social Media, Drogen oder sonstige Einflüsse, die im Gehirn Glücksgefühle auslösen, ohne dass diese besonders nachhaltig oder „echt“ sind.
Als Synonym könnte man also auch „Fake Love“ oder „Fake Feelings“ nehmen, allerdings waren mir diese Begriffe zu plakativ.
Die insgesamt fünf Schriftzüge waren ursprünglich anders geplant. Ich wollte, dass die Bleiche, je dünner der Schriftzug ist mehr und mehr „bleedet“, also weniger definiert aussieht und mehr in den Stoff reinläuft. Da dieser Effekt allerdings schwierig kontrolliert herzustellen ist, sind die Schriftzüge aktuell noch sehr präzise im Erscheinungsbild. Sobald ich etwas mehr Material und Geld zur Verfügung habe, werde ich weiter experimentieren und so vielleicht irgendwann meine Vision komplett umsetzten zu können.
Die beiden O’s die beim mittleren Schriftzug in einem Herz verlaufen sollen dem Erscheinungsbild eine gewisse Dynamik verleihen und nochmal das Wort „Love“ unterstützen.
Der Smiley im O von Love soll eine gewisse Naivität ausstrahlen, aber gleichzeitig auch einen leicht glückseligen Eindruck vermitteln. Schließlich gibt sich jeder gerne mal der ein oder anderen Versuchung hin, um schnelles Glück zu verspüren, oder?
BOOTLEG LOVE
Let’s start with a definition of the term bootleg:
In the field of media law, a bootleg is a sound recording or film whose distribution has not been authorized by the rights holder.
For the motif, I interpreted the term “bootleg” as an adjective for something unlicensed or faked.
It is meant to stand for all fake and primitive dopamine releases. For me, this includes social media, drugs or other influences that trigger feelings of happiness in the brain without being particularly sustainable or “real”.
You could also use “fake love” or “fake feelings” as a synonym, but these terms were too bold for me.
The total of five letterings were originally planned differently. I wanted the thinner the lettering, the more the bleach would “bleed”, i.e. look less defined and run more into the fabric. However, as this effect is difficult to produce in a controlled manner, the lettering is currently still very precise in appearance. As soon as I have a bit more material and money at my disposal, I will continue experimenting and perhaps one day I will be able to realize my vision completely.
The two O’s that run into a heart in the middle lettering are intended to give the design a certain dynamism and once again support the word “Love”.
The smiley in the O of Love should radiate a certain naivety, but at the same time convey a slightly blissful impression. After all, everyone likes to indulge in a temptation or two in order to experience quick happiness, right?
